When ecological consciousnesss, research and the introduction of new technologies work together to create advantages both for the consumer and for the quality of the product, then we really are talking about genuine innovation and progress.

Slow-release nitrogen fertiliser

The main element in plant nutrition is NITROGEN. It is added through traditional fertilisers, but these are however immediately soluble. The use of such fertilisers may have a notable impact on the environment and may produce such harmful effects as pollution to the air and to ground water, as well as being low in efficiency, as only small quantities are actually taken up by the plants, with several applications being required and hence with additional costs.

Sazolene is a special and indeed revolutionary fertiliser that is able to release NITROGEN in a way that is synchronised with plant needs.
Sazolene comes in diverse formulations, with variable release times according to different nutrition needs. There are many advantages to this, including the use of smaller quantities of fertiliser, greater efficiency and lower cost, with more respect for nature and diminished environmental impact.

How does Sazolene® work?

The nitrogen release mechanism, unlike that of other slow-release nitrogen technologies, takes place through a process of bioavailability due to microbial action in the soil (mineralisation).

Il Sazolene® is a source of organic carbon (vital energy) and nitrogen (nutrient) for the soil’s microbial population. Unlike with other technologies, Sazolene® does not inhibit the microbial action in the soil that is responsible for the natural mineralisation processes, but supports it and thus improves the development and natural fertility of the soil as a source of organic carbon and nitrogen.

The factors that control root growth and plant development, which are principally temperature and humidity, are the same as those that regulate the activity of microorganisms. This means that Sazolene® nitrogen is made available when the conditions for root development and for plant growth are at their best – the release of Sazolene® is synchronised with the needs of the crop -.

As a result, Sazolene® helps prevent nitrate pollution in groundwater and keeps the nitrogen available in the soil profile into which the roots penetrate. This mechanism ensures uniform and sustained growth even where there are high temperatures or heavy rainfall, since the release of nitrogen does not depend directly only on temperature or on hydrolysis, being a source of nitrogen that is slowly soluble in water.

How to use Sazolene®?

Sazolene® is mainly used as a raw material for the production of slow-release nitrogen (N), or binary (NP, NK) or ternary nitrogen (NPK) fertilisers that provide all or a part of the nitrogen in slow release form (methylen urea).
The different sizes of round granules available makes this an ideal component in the production of mixed fertilisers. Sazolene® can also be used for the production of granulated or compacted fertilisers using chip granulometry (of 0.4 mm) or using larger grain sizes (2 or 3.5 mm) in case the starting process involves the grinding of the raw materials used.

Great efficiency can be achieved by mixing Sazolene® with other sources of readily soluble nitrogen.

Sazolene® can also be used directly to provide the nitrogen needed for the crops in a single application or as a supplement to traditional immediate action fertilisers. By carefully dosed mixing of Sazolene® with other raw materials a wide range of NPK formulations can be obtained with a variable slow release nitrogen content.

What applications is Sazolene® suitable for?

The products in the Sazolene® range release nitrogen so evenly and safely that they are highly suited for many applications. Sazolene® can be used both for open field crops, in horticulture and in fruit-growing, i.e. for food crops, as well as for lawns, landscaping, flower and ornamental plant nurseries, i.e. non-food crops, and in all cases of new installations. Products based on Sazolene® facilitate the gradual release of nitrogen in harmony with the natural need for nitrogen of the plants.
